Kazakhstan and China signed documents allowing Kazakhstan to start supplying corn and barley to the Chinese market, Interfax-Kazakhstan reported with reference to the press service of Kazakh Agriculture Ministry.

"On November 22, during the visit of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev to China, protocols on phytosanitary requirements for barley and corn were signed," the ministry said.

The documents were signed by Kazakh Agriculture Vice Minister Gulmira Isayeva and Minister of China's General Administration of Customs Ni Yuefeng.

"The signing of these documents opens up opportunities for the export of Kazakh corn and barley to the Chinese market," the agriculture ministry noted.

So far, the requirements for wheat, soybean, wheat bran, rapeseed meal and alfalfa hay have been agreed.

Currently, Kazakhstan supplies to China the products of fish farming, sheep breeding, beekeeping, as well as wheat, bran, soybean and vegetable oil.
