Special work is being carried out on 1,200 hectares of water area in the Divandarreh County of Iran’s Kurdistan Province, Sadiq Mirzaei, a spokesman for the natural and water resources department of the Divandarreh County, said in an interview with IRNA.

He said that this work is carried out in order to improve quality of soil and water resources, preventing the leakage of water in the lower layers of Earth, as well as removal of unnecessary and harmful plants.

Mirzaei added that the pastures of Chehel-Chashma and Saral settlements are unique for their medicinal plants.

However, the use of territories in a non-professional manner results in their destruction, he said.

In order to avoid this, training courses in the villages should be organized and the local community should be properly informed, he said.

Iran’s Kurdistan province has about 1.788 million hectares of natural resources. Forest areas account for 373,000 hectares, while pastures account for 1.414 million hectares of territory.
