Iran exports goods worth over $500M through Mehran border terminal

In the first eight months of the current Iranian year (started March 21) Iran exported goods worth $506 million through Mehran border point to Iraq, Deputy Chairman of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Iran's Ilam province Said Sharifi said.

Sharifi noted that during the reported period over 683,000 tons of goods were exported to Iraq via Mehran boder terminal.

Construction materials, rubber, iron, agricultural materials and petrochemicals made the majority of the exported goods, Sharifi added.

He also noted that during the reported period, over 51,000 tons of goods worth $2.5 million were imported to Iran throught the above mentioned border crossing.

The distance between the Iraqi capital Baghdad and Iran's border city of Mehran is 230 km. Approximately, on a daily basis, 600 trucks cross the border heading to Iraq.
