UK, Russian firms to open agroindustrial cluster in Uzbekistan

A modern agroindustrial cluster will be created in Kuyichirchik district of the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, where cultivation of raw cotton, cereals and other crops, their deep processing will be organized, says the decision of the Government of Uzbekistan, Trend reported referring to Uzbek media.

According to the information, the cluster will be created by the British company Paraglide Limited and the Russian Petromaruz Capital.

It is also planned to create a livestock and fish-breeding complex in Kuyichirchik district by attracting direct foreign investment, funds from international financial institutions, credit lines of foreign banks and loans from commercial banks.

To implement the project, a company with foreign investment Tashkent Cotton Textile Cluster will be created. It will be granted the right of permanent possession and use of 35,400 hectares of irrigated land and 3,100 hectares of fish ponds.

In addition, the enterprise will be given a “zero” redemption value of the property complex of the former Balikchi JSC to create a modern complex for growing, processing and marketing, including for export, a wide range of fish products, with the condition of creating new jobs and making investments in the amount of $8.2 million.

The total cost of projects to be implemented in the cluster will exceed $217 million.

Production facilities will be launched in stages from 2020 to 2023.
