Kazakhstan boosts production of construction materials

For the first 10 months of 2018, the production of building materials and other similar mineral products in Kazakhstan reached almost 500 billion tenge, Trend reports citing Energyprom.kz.

This is a 40-percent increase year-on-year.

The largest production volume in monetary terms fell on the share of the Mangystau region — 84.3 billion tenge, which is 4.2 times more than in the same period last year. Shymkent ranks second (55.6 billion tenge) and Astana is third (49.6 billion tenge).

In real terms, the production of non-refractory ceramic building bricks for the first 10 months of this year increased by 2.7 times to 1.7 million cubic meters. Output of refractory products increased by 30.4 percent to 148,000 tons.

In general, the output of non-metallic construction products is increasing, but the production of slaked lime and quicklime has decreased by 3.7 percent year-on-year, building prefabricated concrete structures — by 5.5 percent, and drywall – by 6 percent.

In addition, in October 2018, the price of a 50-kilogram bag of M-400 cement increased by 5.4 percent to 1,319 tenge, and of construction mixtures – by 4.4 percent to 4,614 tenge.

The largest increase in cement prices was in Astana – by 19.2 percent to 1,419 tenge for a 50-kilogram bag. Meanwhile, the largest increase in prices for dry construction mixtures was in Semey — by 14.4 percent to 5,637 tenge for a 50-kilogram bag.
