Agricultural production volume in Uzbekistan revealed

In 2018, Uzbekistan produced 6.12 million tons of grain, 2.3 million tons of cotton, 8.66 million tons of vegetables and 2.41 million tons of potatoes, Trend reports referring to Uzbek media.

The statement was made by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his congratulation to agricultural workers.

According to the president, the harvesting volume of melons and gourds totaled 1.6 million tons, fruits – 2.1 million tons, grapes – 1.31 million tons, silkworm cocoons – 18,000 tons, meat – 1.78 million tons, milk – 7.83 million tons.

Mirziyoyev noted that total agricultural production amounted to 58.18 trillion soums ($7 billion).

Grain producing farms received loans in the amount of 1.03 trillion soums, which is 142 percent more compared to last year, cotton-growing farms – 5.138 trillion soums, or 2.4 times more than last year.

“It is planned to allocate almost 1.7 trillion soums from the state budget next year to improve the ameliorative state of irrigated land, as well as $84 million from international financial institutions,” the president said.

The president added that a number of investment projects worth $1.87 billion are planned to be implemented in 2019 in irrigation water supply.

In January-December 2017, Uzbekistan produced potatoes in the amount of three million tons, vegetables – 11.43 million tons, melons and gourds – 2.09 million tons, fruits – 3.08 million tons, grapes – 1.75 million tons. Over 8.1 million tons of grain crops and 2.9 million tons of raw cotton were produced.
