Some 306 projects worth 5.7 trillion tenge are being implemented in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing the press service of the governor of the region.

"Of these, 9 projects are being implemented with the participation of transnational companies, and 44 with foreign participation. These enterprises employ more than 32,000 people," said the head of the region Amandyk Batalov.

In particular, the Mareven Food plant with its own logistics and warehouse infrastructure was launched in December to manufacture products under the Rollton brand. The enterprise will export up to 80 percent of its products to Central Asia. The annual production volume will be 21 billion tenge.

Also, the commissioning work began on the plant for the production of lubricants of the Russian Lukoil company. The enterprise will be fully automated and equipped with a smart warehouse system.

"These enterprises are located in 6 industrial zones, which are fully provided with engineering infrastructure. Forty nine projects worth 341 billion tenge with the creation of 4,600 jobs are being implemented here," Batalov said.

He also noted that the Khorgos-Eastern Gate special economic zone gives a powerful impetus to the development of the regional economy.

"Twelve projects worth 470 billion tenge with the creation of about 4,000 jobs are being implemented in the special economic zone. This year it is expected that investments will exceed 570 billion tenge," the governor said.
