Uzbekistan to establish state committee for industrial safety

Uzbekistan will establish the State Committee for Industrial Safety ​​and its territorial administrations, Trend reports referring to Uzbek media.

The corresponding decree was signed by the president of Uzbekistan.

The new committee will be created on the basis of the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Geological Study of the Subsoil, the Safe Conduct of Work in the Industry, Mining and Household sectors, which is now under the jurisdiction of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The main tasks and activities of the State Committee will be coordinated work on the implementation of a unified state policy and control in the field of radiation and nuclear safety at nuclear facilities and nuclear technology, as well as in industrial safety at hazardous production facilities.

In addition, the State Committee will be responsible for exercising state supervision and control over compliance by legal entities and individuals with the requirements of legislation and regulatory documents in industrial, radiation and nuclear safety, safety of operations when using subsoil resources, as well as operation of attractions.

The Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety, as well as the Angren, Almalyk and Kyzylkum Mining Technical Inspections will be created as part of the new body.

The State Committee will be part of the Cabinet of Ministers’ subordinate complex on geology, the fuel and energy complex, chemical, petrochemical and metallurgical industries.
