Uzbekistan simplifies goods transit

The government of Uzbekistan has made changes to the rules for transit traffic through the territory of Uzbekistan, Trend reports on Dec. 18 referring to Uzbek media.

According to the new amendments, the period during which transit vehicles must leave the country has been extended from three to five days from the date of entry.

In addition, 47 new routes have been opened for the transit of foreign carriers through the territory of Uzbekistan. The largest number of routes is available when entering from the country from Tajikistan (18 routes) and Turkmenistan (12 routes).

It is also now permitted to transfer goods from a foreign car to national carriers under customs control in customs warehouses located outside established transit routes.

The process of issuing permits for the transit of special cargo and military contingents through Uzbekistan has also been accelerated. The general term for making a decision on issuing or refusing to issue a permit, including issuing the document itself, should now not exceed 20 days (previously - 30 days) from the day the application and all documents are received.
