Since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21) to date, Iran's Zanjan province has exported hand-woven carpets worth $9.855 million, the head of the carpet weaving department of Zanjan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Mohsun Jafari, said, Trend reports via Iranian media.

Jafari noted that in the same period of the previous Iranian year the exports of hand-woven carpets amounted to $8.772 million.

"Presently, there is an increase in Zanjan's hand-woven carpet exports. However, according to estimations, there will be a decrease in the future," he said.

He went on adding that the decrease will be related to the use of NIMA.

"NIMA requires the carpet vendors to sell the exported carpet within six months and register the payment through the system. This procedure causes difficulties for the sellers, because it is not always possible to sell the product within the given period," Jafari said.
