Turkey extends duty free period for meat imports

The duty free period for meat and live cattle imports in Turkey has been extended until Dec. 31, 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey told Trend Dec. 28.

Until the end of the next year, individuals and companies will be able to import 500,000 heads of cattle and 75,000 heads of small stock without paying duties.

Companies and persons licensed to import meat will be able to import 20,000 tons of meat without paying duties, the ministry said.

Turkey imports cattle from such countries as Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.
