Turkey increases exports by almost 10 percent in December 2018

In December 2018, Turkey's exports amounted to $15.5 billion, thus showing an increase of 9.4 percent compared to December 2017, Trend reports referring to the country's Trade Ministry.

The ministry noted that in December 2018, imports to Turkey decreased by 21.3 percent compared to the same month of 2017 and amounted to $16.1 billion.

"In December 2018, Turkey's exports to the EU countries amounted to $7.7 billion, thus showing an increase of 10.9 percent compared to December 2017," the ministry said.

During the reported period, Turkey’s exports to Germany, the UK and Iraq amounted to $1.4 billion, $983 million and $855 million, respectively.

"In December 2018, imports to Turkey decreased by 21.3 percent compared to December 2017 and amounted to $16.1 billion," the ministry said.

The ministry noted that in December 2018, Turkey's imports from Russia, Germany and China amounted to $1.7 billion, $1.5 billion and $1.3 billion, respectively.

The ministry further noted that in 2018, Turkey's imports reached $206.5 billion, while exports amounted to $154.1 billion.
