Trend:

The volume of Iran's carpet exports has increased, while the value of exported carpets has decreased, Trend reports via Tasnim news agency.

The statistics from Trade Promotion Organization of Iran indicate that volume of hand woven carpets and other handicrafts exports reached 11,000 tons during the past eight months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), which is an increase by 64 percent, compared to the same period last year.

Iran’s volume of carpet exports during the same period last year (March 21, 2017) was 6,000 tons.

However the value of exports in the current year decreased by 19 percent to $286 million, which shows that Iran's carpet and handicrafts have been exported with lower price, compared to last year's figures.

The devaluation of Iran's national currency - rial - has caused exporters to sell their products at a lower foreign currency rate.
