By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

More than 3,000 projects totaling $16.6 billion have been included in the Investment Program of Uzbekistan for 2019, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

This is 16 percent more than in 2018, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during a video conference in Tashkent.

In particular, within the investment program it is planned to put into operation 140 production facilities with a total cost of $3.2 billion.

The conference noted that as a result of active work with foreign countries and investors, foreign direct investment accounted for 25 percent of the total investment. This year it is planned to spend $4.2 billion in 320 projects involving foreign direct investment.

Mirziyoyev noted that the most important task of the government should be the unconditional implementation of projects involving foreign direct investment, and provision of comprehensive assistance to foreign investors.

Special attention was also paid to the implementation of regional projects through foreign direct investment. Last year, more than $1 billion of investments was spent in the regions and 133 new enterprises were commissioned.
