About 1 trillion tenge of investments were attracted in 2018 into the economy of the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, Trend reports citing the website of the Astana city administration.

The statement was made by the city Mayor Bakhyt Sultanov at the extended staff meeting on the results of 2018 and tasks for 2019.

"Previously, almost half of the investments attracted in the city were coming from the state budget (about 53 percent in 2009), but now the share of the state budget investments decreased to 10 percent. Thus, today, 90 percent of the city's investments come from private initiatives, and the main investor of the city is small business," he said.

The mayor added that Astana is becoming more attractive for foreign investors.

"We have become more attractive for foreign capital. Last year, foreign investments accounted for a quarter of the total investments," Sultanov noted.
