Iran power plant production capacity increases by 11 times

Iran's power plant production capacities have currently passed 80,000 megawatt while the country is trading electricity with seven neighboring countries.

"The production capacity of the installed power plants in the country have increased by 11 times," said the managing director of Tehran Regional Electric Company, Seyed Zaman Hosseini, Trend reports citing YJC.

"The variety of power plants in the country increased after the Islamic revolution and at the moment Iran produces electricity from diesel, nuclear energy, gas, water, renewable energy power plants and so on," he added.

The official noted that before the Islamic revolution, Iran did not have power exports to the neighbor countries, but now it is trading electricity to seven neighboring countries.

He indicated after five decades, all the developed countries have power network connections, and trading electricity in these countries is based on political and economic interests.
