Iran is currently working on construction of 31 plants in 27 provinces with the capacity of 19,000 megawatt energy of total production, Trend reports via IRNA.
Meanwhile, during the Hassan Rouhani's second term government (2017-2022), some 12,000 megawatts of energy would be produced by these plants.
Iran's gas power plants with capacity of 25,355 megawatts, have the highest capacity of energy production in the country, which is equal to 31.60 percent, while 29.47 percent of country's power plants have a combined capacity of 23,646 megawatt.
Also, 19.73 percent are steam power plants (15,829 megawatt capacity).
The capacity of water plants is estimated at 11,938 megawatt (14.88 percent of energy production in the country).
The renewable energy plants in Iran have 670 megawatt and diesel plants - 439 megawatt of capacity respectfully.
Iran currently ranks first in power production capacity in the region and 14-th in the world.
The capacity of Iran's plants during past four decades increased 11.2 times from 7,000 to 80,000 megawatt.
