By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan intend to seriously engage in solving the falsification problem in the dairy products market, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Milk and Dairy Products Producers and Exporters Association (ASEB) Samir Eyyubov told Trend.

He noted that the two agencies are actively working and the main goal is to at least somehow achieve progress in the issue.

"Our main task is to resolve the issue together with state agencies and the work on this is already underway," he said. "At least, the agencies expressed their intention to do everything necessary to solve this problem. Quite active work in this direction is carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Safety Agency."

Falsifiers often sell reconstituted non-quality milk under the guise of whole milk, and this costs them much less, he noted.

"Milk powder itself is a natural product," he said. "When milk powder is reconstituted, butter must be added. Instead, counterfeiters use a spread consisting of palm oil. Thus, they manufacture counterfeit products that are low in cost."
