The trade turnover of Uzbekistan and Russia, in comparison with 2017, increased by 21.2 percent to $5.73 billion in 2018, Trend reports via Podrobno.uz.
State Statistics Committee underlines that export from Uzbekistan to Russia increased by 6.8 percent last year and amounted to $2.193 billion while import amounted to $3.357 billion (30.6 percent up).
Russia ranked second among the main partners of Uzbekistan with 16.9 percent share in the total foreign trade turnover. However, China still holds leadership with a share of 19 percent.
Uzbekistan became the main exporter of textile to the Russian market with $639.6 million and 25 percent increase compared to 2017, and also the second largest supplier of fruits and vegetables with $164.8 million (1.45 times up).
Moreover, the country also increased export of natural gas to Russia to $583.5 million (27.3 percent up) and food products to $186.5 million (29 percent up).
The committee noted that the growth of Russian import to Uzbekistan was due to an increase in the supply of machinery and equipment up to $ 937 million (1.7 times up), rolled metal up to $775.2 million (1.42 times up) and chemical products up to $366.7 million (1.3 times up).
