By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

The government of Uzbekistan has exempted milk processing enterprises from paying value added tax (VAT), Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement that this decision was made in order to create additional conditions for the development of the dairy industry and strengthen the cooperation of processing enterprises and farms.

At the beginning of 2019, there was a shortage of dairy products in many stores in Uzbekistan. If earlier the product range included 15-20 types of dairy products, now their number is less than five. Sellers and manufacturers associate this problem with the introduction of VAT since the beginning of January.

It should be noted that the Uzbek food products, the sales turnover of which is exempt from VAT, include meat (beef, lamb, chicken), alive animals (cattle and poultry) and products of their slaughter, fish, potatoes, onions, eggs, rice, sugar (including imported), bakery products, and milk.
