A member of Iran's Parliament explained the reason for Iranians' tendency to invest and buy housing abroad, especially in Turkey.

"The housing prices in Iran rise day by day, and in the course of rial devaluation due to US sanctions, investing abroad seems logical," MP Hadi Bahadori told Trend.

"The government should take the education issues seriously. For example, in medical sciences or other fields of science some cannot pass the entrance exams and so leave to study abroad. Now, neighboring countries, including Turkey, have high potential for student attraction and this threatens the country," he said.

"Employment is another issue that if provided to young people at home, no one goes to work in another country and ultimately capital is maintained in the country,” said Bahadori.

He went on to point to the cheapness of housing in Turkey compared to Iran as a reason for capital outflow.

He stressed that the barriers to investment should be eliminated, adding that the barriers and risks of investment in Iran are high. "For this reason, the investors have an interest in investing abroad to maintain the value of their capital."
