Trend:

Uzbekistan is going to produce 201,500 tons of fish by popularizing an efficient method of growing fish in a closed water supply system this year, Trend reports, via UZA.

Uzbek Baliq Sanoat states that 83,900 tons of fish were grown in Uzbekistan in 2017, and 116, 000 tons in 2018.

There are about 4000 fish farms in the country, 60 hatcheries, reproductive pools of 4200 hectares and 31 fish processing plants are involved.

The Ministry of Water Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan provides a guaranteed supply of water for fish farms.

“Investments from Hungary, China, Iran, Vietnam, Russia and Turkey were attracted to develop the sphere in 2018. This year it is planned to sign contracts with foreign countries in the amount of $14 million. Financing of fish farms in the regions will be provided through preferential bank loans,” head of the Uzbek Baliq Sanoat association said.

Uzbek President’s decree “On additional measures for the further development of the fish industry” of November 6, 2018 contributes to the rational and efficient use of water resources attracting innovative ideas to the industry and foreign investment.

In order to improve the efficiency of fish farms, the country took important measures to transition to the cluster system in 2019-2021. This will facilitate the organization of a full cycle of incubation activities, the cultivation of fish and juveniles, the production of protein-rich fish feed and the processing and storage of products.

“The creation of a unified management system in Uzbekistan ensuring full coverage of all spheres of aquaculture came in very handy to businessmen. A year has passed since the start of our business. The total area of our farm, equipped with equipment brought from China, is 161 hectares. In 2018, we grew 315 tons of fish. At the expense of the profits, we acquired 9 special incubation tanks for the company”, director of the Xorazm Baliq Sanoat Agro LLC says.

The company created 44 jobs. At the expense of profits, a shop for the production of fish and fish products was recently used here. In addition, the farm has established production of animal feed for fish.
