Iran imports 40,000 tons of meat from Kazakhstan

Last night, 40,000 tons of meat has been imported to Iran via airways from Kazakhstan.

Last night, 40,000 tons of meat has been imported to Iran via airways from Kazakhstan, Mohammad Jafari, head of the Department of Animal and Animal Husbandry Products Provision of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to Jafari, the import consists of lamb. Jafari also said that meat imports shall continue until there will be more stability in the market.

“In order to meet the needs of Iranian meat consumers, imports are routinely conducted via land and sea routes. However, meat imported from Kazakhstan makes up a fair share of the imported goods,” he stated, noting that the products are further transported to different provinces whilst accounting for market needs.

Earlier, Alireza Rafipour, Chairman of the Iran Veterinary Organization, said that imports of more than 300,000 tons of meat from different countries were planned, with foreign currency provided for 200,000 tons and of 146,000 tons of meat imported.

Iran imports meat from a total of 42 countries.
