By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan is working on a new project for the development of management and marketing in the regions, Sakina Babaeva, head of the Association, told Trend.

According to the head of the Association, this direction is one of the priorities in the field of female entrepreneurship.

“Special marketing and management courses have been opened within the project, conducted by the Association’s consultants. Our specialists work with women in rural areas, teach them necessary skills, mainly in the field of cooking and handicrafts. Some progress is already observable in these two fields, as women are independently designing their own products and working to improve the service quality. It is very important for the handicrafts to then be able to be sold outside the country,” explained Babayeva.

According to Babayeva, handicrafts, particularly soft toys, for example, are in great demand in neighboring Turkey.

"In February, we will take part in the handicraft exhibition in Turkey, where toy products made by residents of the regions will be mainly exhibited. We plan to expand this type of manual production in the future; for example, to open some workshops where many people can be employed," she said.

According to the statistics, over 143,000 women are employed in business in Azerbaijan today.

The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan was established with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children in October 2017.
