By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:

Two Azerbaijani banks, PASHA Bank and Kapital Bank, are merging their POS terminal networks, a source in Azerbaijan’s banking market told Trend.

The merger will make it possible to accept non-cash payments under single conditions of the two banks, according to the source.

For example, to receive a payment, a seller in a supermarket will no longer need to search among several POS terminals for the device corresponding to a buyer’s bank card.

"A similar project is also planned by the International Bank of Azerbaijan jointly with several banks," the source said.

As of late December 2018, the number of POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to 66,110, of which 38,962 were installed in Baku and 27,148 were installed in other cities and regions of the country, according to a report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
