With the completion of projects in the Southern Aluminum Industry Complex (Salco) and Jajarm Alumina Plant, Iran will rise to the 12th place in the world in terms of aluminum production during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Trend reports referring to the website of IMIDRO.

Iran currently ranks 18th in terms of aluminum production.

"When analyzing aluminum production, we see that 18,000 tons of aluminum were being produced in 1978, and this figure reached 337,000 tons in 2017. This is a 19-fold increase," the IMIDRO report said.

Iran's aluminum production will reach 385,000 tons during the current Iranian year.

The production of 800,000 tons of alumina powder is planned in order to meet the minimum needs of Iran's aluminum industry. The bauxite needed for the project will be provided by a bauxite mine in Guinea.
