Agricultural production increases in Iran's Semnan province

In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), so far, 1.5 million tons of agricultural products have been produced in Iran's Semnan province, Hassan Miremad, the director of Semnan Agricultural Jihad Organization, said, Trend reports via IRNA.
Before the Iranian Revolution total production in the province did not even reach 200,000 tons, he noted.
Miremad added that various birds, such as ostriches, partridges, turkeys and quails are bred in Semnan.
He further noted that 70 percent of the chicken meat produced in the province prevails the demand, and thus, exported to neighboring provinces and foreign markets.
So far in the current Iranian year, Semnan's chicken meat production has reached 55,300 tons, according to Miremad.
Moreover, in the current Iranian year, 204,400 chicken eggs, 32,800 tons of honey and 30,700 tons of red meat were produced in Semnan, he added.
Some 198,000 hectares of Semnan has been used by the agricultural production sector of the province. Of these, 54,000 hectares account for orchards, and 110,000 hectares are covered by fields. More land is being prepared for agricultural crops.
Approximately, 45,000 people work in Semnan's agricultural sector.
