Uzbekistan working to expand co-op with German companies

Uzbek Minister of Agriculture (former Minister of Foreign Trade) Jamshid Khojaev gave an interview to the largest financial portal in Germany, Finanzen.net, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

The interview was devoted to the economic potential of Uzbekistan.

Khojaev noted that today Uzbekistan is trying to expand its cooperation with foreign companies, including those in Germany. The country is taking significant measures to liberalize the economy and create a favorable investment climate. The harmonization of trade legislation with the requirements of the World Trade Organization and the subsequent accession to this organization has a particular importance.

The interview provides data on trade volumes between Germany and Uzbekistan, which since 2017 rose to 700 million euros. Moreover, it is noted that agricultural products and textiles make up the bulk of Uzbek exports.

Another importance moment is the assigning the country a credit rating at the level of BB- with a stable outlook for expanding the capital market of the issue of the first Eurobonds by international rating agencies S&P and Fitch.

Khojaev also said that possibilities for economic development of the country have greatly expanded thanks to the intensification of regional cooperation and the implementation of project for revival of the Silk Road.
