Turkey talks holding tender to lay sub-surface metro line to airport in Ankara

A tender for construction of a metro line connecting Turkey’s Esenboga Airport with the center of Ankara will be held this year, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend Feb. 11.

The total length of the metro line will be 15 kilometers, according to the ministry.

“It is expected that foreign contractors will also be able to take part in the construction of the metro line,” the ministry said.

In October last year, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend that Ankara Esenboga Airport will be connected to the city center by a sub-surface metro line.

It is expected that the project’s implementation will start within two years and be wrapped up by 2023.

The work is underway in Turkey on the implementation of 50 transport and communication projects.

The total budget allocated for the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey for implementing transport and infrastructure projects in the country will amount to 64.275 billion Turkish liras in 2020-2021.

According to the ministry, 31.183 billion liras will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2020, which will be 3.413 billion liras more compared to the budget for 2019.

An amount of 31.092 billion liras will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2021.
