By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

In 2020, the volume of wheat grown in Turkmenistan should reach 1.4 million tons, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan plans to harvest 1.6 million tons of grains from 760,000 hectares of fields in 2019.

Besides, 100,000 hectares are allocated for seed production.

For wheat production, the state provides seeds and mineral fertilizers, the means to combat agricultural pests, on favorable terms.

In 2019, the production costs for growing wheat will be 1,449.77 Turkmen manats per hectare, but tenants will only refund 687.54 Turkmen manats.

Thus, more than half of the expenditures of grain growers is subsidized by the state.
