By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

When compared to global trade practices, the process of trade in Iran is complicated, said Mehdi Mirashrafi, Director General of Iran's Customs Administration (IRICA), Trend reports referring to the Information Portal of the Iranian Customs Administration.

According to Mirashrafi, such levels of complexity for trade in Iran should be reduced.

Mirashrafi stated that there are 33 types of fees in place for imports, sometimes also applied for exports.

"Twenty two organizations issue licenses for the release of products," he said.

Mirashrafi added that there are 65 different exemptions for the purpose of supporting the economy.

He also said that there are 12 customs procedures at customs points.

"With all this complexity being diminished, there will be ground for the simplification of Iran's trade, which will be beneficial for the country," he said.
