Uzbekistan eyes to increase textile exports

Uzbekistan intends to increase textile exports to $7 billion by processing the entire cotton yarn produced in the country by 2025, Trend reports with reference to a decree of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Uzbekistan intends to increase the investment in processing of semi-finished textile products and export of finished products.

The decree states that the country's Cabinet, within three months, must approve the 2019-2025 Concept for the Accelerated Development of Textile and Knitting Industry.

The concept provides for the analysis of domestic and foreign markets and ensuring the competitiveness of the Uzbek textile products.

Moreover, the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry will launch joint educational programs with leading foreign universities from the 2019-2020 school year.

The document also stresses that a production and training cluster with participation of foreign companies may appear in the country.
