3 northern provinces of Turkey to be connected by rail

Three northern provinces of Turkey (Trabzon, Gumushane and Erzincan) will be connected by rail, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend Feb. 18.

The railway construction project is under development, according to the ministry.

“The establishment of a railway link between the above mentioned provinces will contribute to the intensification of passenger and cargo transportation,” the ministry said.

A tender for the railway’s construction will be announced upon completion of development of the railway route.

The total budget allocated for the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey for implementing transport and infrastructure projects in the country will amount to 64.275 billion Turkish liras in 2020-2021.

According to the ministry, 31.183 billion liras will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2020, which will be 3.413 billion liras more compared to the budget for 2019.

An amount of 31.092 billion liras will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2021.
