The number of operating small enterprises and microfirms in Uzbekistan amounted to 274,900 as of February 1, 2019, which is 18.1 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
The number of newly created subjects of small enterprises and microfirms was more than 12.800 units as of January 2019, which is 8,400 thousand more than in the same period last year.
Out of the 274.9 thousand operating small enterprises and microfirms by economic activity, trade accounts for 76,800 units(27.9 percent), industry – 58,500 units (21.3 percent), construction – 30,000 units (10.9 percent ), agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 25,400 units (8.9 percent), accommodation and food services – 20,400 units (7.4 percent), transportation and storage services – 13,400 units (4, 9 percent), information and communication – 6,900 units (2.5 percent), health care and the provision of social services – 5,500 units (2 percent), and also on other issues – 39,000 units (14.2 percent but).
In case of considiretaion of their number by types of economic activity, the largest part is accounted for trade - 6549 units, industry - 2418 units, construction - 1107 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 637 units. The smallest number falls on health care and the provision of social services - 112 units, information and communication - 133 units, and also on transportation and storage - 335 units.
A significant part of the total number of newly created small businesses falls on the city of Tashkent (2785 units), Fergana (1234 units), Tashkent (1235 units) and Samarkand (1074 units) regions. The smallest part of them was recorded in S1rdarya (276 units), Navoi (302 units) and Khorezm (830 units) regions.
