Rapeseed sowing has increased three times in Iran’s Ilam province, said Mohammad Ali Aghdasi, deputy director of the Ilam Province Agriculture Department for improvement of herb production, Trend reports via Mehr news agency.
He said that the province has become one of the centers for rapeseed sowing in Iran.
He added that 10,500 hectares of the province have been allocated for rapeseed sowing.
“It is forecasted that more than 20,000 tons of rapeseed will be harvested for the first time in this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018),” said Aghdasi.
He added that rapeseed was sown in the area of more than 6,000 hectares in the Dehloran county of the Ilam province, noting that more than 12,000 tons of products are planned to be harvested in the county.
Rapeseed has 40-46 percent of fat, he said.
He added that Iran hasn’t reached self-sufficiency in the production of vegetable oil yet.
