Iran plans to increase carpets exports to Iraq

Iran intends to increase carpets exports to Iraq, said Naser Behzad, Commercial Attaché at the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad, Trend reports referring to the website of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran.

Behzad said that it is estimated that the demand for Iranian carpets in the Iraqi market will reach $600 million by the end of 2020.

Behzad added that currently Iraq imports $250 million worth of carpets from Turkey, China and Egypt.

"Iran's share in the Iraqi carpet market is less than 5 percent," he said.

Speaking about the strategy of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran for increasing the rates of Iranian production and exports to neighboring countries, Behzad said that the participation of Iranian businessmen in these markets can lead to the development of these markets, as well as the creation of joint small-scale workshops.
