Financial services dominate Uzbekistan’s services sector

The volume of financial services rendered in Uzbekistan increased in January 2019 by 58 percent and amounted to 2.3 trillion soums compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

The volume of market services rendered in Uzbekistan increased in January 2019, compared to the same period last year, by 15.7 percent and amounted to 13 trillion soums ($1.56 billion).

The volume of services rendered per capita increased in the first month of this year by 13.7 percent and amounted to 395,800 soums ($47.5).

The largest share in the overall structure of services rendered in the country falls on transportation services, which increased in 2018 by 17 percent to 4.1 trillion soums, including road transport - by 0.9 percent to 1.7 trillion soums.

Next in terms of the volume of services rendered are the trade sector, which increased by 3.6 percent to 3.3 trillion soums; the communications and information sector demonstrated a decrease by 4.4 percent to 714 billion soums.

As of February 1, 221,500 enterprises were involved in the service sector in Uzbekistan. At the same time, their number increased by 14.7 percent compared to February 1, 2018.

The trade sector accounts for 34.9 percent of enterprises providing services, accommodation and food - 9.3 percent, transportation and storage - 6.1 percent, information and communications - 3.2 percent, healthcare and social services - 3.1 percent.
