Uzavtosanoat launched the production of bicycles at the Norin Moto Bike factory in Uzbek Namangan region on February 27, Trend reports with reference to the company's press service.
Components for assembling bicycles are supplied by the Chinese company Lifan Group. At the first stage, it is planned to produce 150,000 bicycles per year. Bicycles are planned to be exported. In the future, Norin Moto Bike will also produce motorcycles, tricycles, scooters and mopeds.
The launch of the new plant allowed employing more than 150 people who have been trained in China. In the future, the number of jobs will increase to 500.
The desire of Chinese businessmen to participate in the production of bicycles in Uzbekistan was reported in August 2018. Investors from China announced their intention to contribute $80 million in this project.
The idea was supported by Uzbek President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He stated the need to popularize the cycle ride, which “improves the functioning of the heart, prolongs life,” and instructed to speed up the launch of the enterprise.
