Trade volume in Kazakhstan increases markedly

The total wholesale and retail trade in Kazakhstan reached a record of 2.2 trillion tenge in January 2019, which is 14.2 percent more year-on-year, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

In particular, the wholesale trade amounted to 1.5 trillion tenge (15.8 percent up year-on-year) and the retail trade – to 694.6 billion tenge (11 percent up).

Almaty is leading for wholesale trade with 668.5 billion tenge, 5.9 percent up year-on-year, with the share of 44.5 percent of the total wholesale trade in Kazakhstan.

Astana ranks second with 270 billion tenge, 8.9 percent up, the share of 18 percent. The Atyrau region is third with 207.3 billion tenge, a 2.1-times growth, with the share of 13.8 percent.

As for the retail trade, Almaty again leads with 223.6 billion tenge, 13.5 percent up year-on-year, with the share of 32.2 percent of the total retail trade in Kazakhstan.

Astana is second with 74.4 billion tenge, 14 percent up, with the share of 10.7 percent. The Karaganda region ranks third with 68.3 billion tenge, 10.7 percent up, with the share of 9.8 percent.

İt should also be noted that the average retail trade check per person was 37,800 tenge in January, 9.6 percent up year-on-year. At the same time, the check of an urban resident averages 60,300 tenge, 9 percent up.
