Number of sheep increases in Iran

The number of sheep in Iran has risen to 62.7 million during the 11 month of the Iranian year of (started March 21, 2018), Trend reports referring to the Statistical Centre of Iran.

According to the report, the number of sheep in the 11th month was 46 million heads of sheep and 16.7 million heads of goats.

Compared with the first month of the Iranian year, the number of sheep has increased during the 11th month by 21.9 percent, and the number of goats by 15.4 percent.

Recently, there has been an increased demand for red meat in the Iranian market, with the price of 1 kg of sheep rising to 1.2 million rials (app. $28.5). An increase in imports is expected for regulating the prices in the Iranian market.
