Uzbekistan examines European experience in optimizing customs administration

A three-day training seminar is held in Uzbek capital of Tashkent for specialists of Uzbek state institutions involved in the development of foreign trade and customs administration, Trend reports with reference to the press-service of Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The training seminar was organized by the United Nations Development Program jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of Uzbek Embassy in Austria.

The training seminar conducted by the head of Customs Department of National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary Andras Szabo, is designed to help learn experience of the customs regulations of the European Union.

At the training sessions, the issues of simplification of customs regulation, customs control after the release of goods, determination of customs value, cooperation with other stakeholders and benefits of introducing the institution of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) are considered.

Specialists from Uzbek Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, State Customs Committee, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uzstandart Agency, State Committee for Facilitating Privatized Enterprises and Competition Development, as well as academics from Tashkent State University of Economics, Westminster University and other departments participate in the training.

Simplification of export-import regulation, as well as improving the position of Uzbekistan in the Doing Business ranking is one of the key areas of UNDP project activities in support of improving the business climate, facilitating trade and attracting investment.

Earlier, a study tour to Austria and Hungary was organized for representatives of state bodies to study issues of customs regulation and familiarization with the work of customs posts, and training seminar was held in November 2018 in Tashkent on improving customs regulation and administration.
