Non-oil industry in Azerbaijan significantly grows

In January-February 2019, industrial production in Azerbaijan amounted to 7.6 billion manats, which is 4.6 percent more than in the first two months of 2018, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

Production in the non-oil industry grew by 15.5 percent over a year.

Also, 71.7 percent of industrial products were produced in the extractive sector, 22.7 percent in processing, 4.9 percent in production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, 0.7 percent in water supply and treatment.

During the period of two months, oil production remained stable compared with January-February 2018, while gas production increased by 34.3 percent.

In the processing sector, the highest growth rates (three times) were recorded in the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers. Furniture production grew by 85.5 percent, machinery and equipment - by 80.8 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 64 percent, beverages - by 63.4 percent, paper and cardboard - by 50.2 percent, products of the spinning industry - by 49.6 percent, computers, electronic and optical products - by 37.8 percent, chemical products - by 33.2 percent, pharmaceutical products - by 26.8 percent, wood products - by 25.3 percent, building materials - 11.8 percent.

Production of other vehicles decreased by 4.5 percent, metallurgical products - by 8.9 percent, finished metal products - by 12.4 percent, printing products - by 15.7 percent, electrical equipment - by 24 percent, clothing - by 27.1 percent, tobacco products - by 32.1 percent, leather goods, footwear - by 39.8 percent.

The volume of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 2.3 percent, water supply and treatment - by 12.1 percent.
