By Kheyraddin Nasirzade – Trend:

Dutch companies are interested in investing in the free economic zone being created in Alat settlement of the Garadagh district of Azerbaijan’s Baku city, coordinator of the local office of the Azerbaijani-Netherlands business hub Tariyel Mirzayev told Trend.

“There are a few Dutch companies that would like to work in the Azerbaijani free economic zone and have their own enterprises or warehouses here,” he said. “This is primarily connected with Azerbaijan’s favourable geographical position.”

Presently, the sides hold the corresponding negotiations.

Dutch companies may invest in infrastructure projects, agriculture, the production of greenhouses, seeds, fertilizers and special equipment within the free economic zone.

The free economic zone is being created in Alat settlement upon the presidential decree signed in March 2016. The territory of the new Baku International Sea Trade Port has been also included in this zone.

According to the bill "On Alat Free Economic Zone", goods, work and services imported into the free economic zone will be exempt from customs duties and taxes.

A business services center, which will ensure the issuance of licenses and other official documents and operate on the "single window" principle, will be created.
