As of April 1, 2019, the number of operating small enterprises and microfirms in Uzbekistan amounted to 289,700 units, which is 21.4 percent more compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
The results of January-March 2019 demonstrates that the number of newly created subjects of small enterprises and microfirms was more than 30,400 units, which is 17,200 units more than in the same period last year.
Of the total number of operating small enterprises and microfirms by type of economic activity accounted for trade — 83,100 units (28.7 percent), industry — 61,800 units (21.4 percent), construction — 31, 400 units (10.8 percent), agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 25,400 units (8.8 percent), accommodation and food services – 21,600 units (7.4 percent), services for transportation and storage – 13,900 units (4.8 percent), information and communication – 7,000 units (2.4 percent), health care and the provision of social services – 5,600 units (1.9 percent), and also on other types – 39,900 units (13.8 percent).
Taking into consideration the number of newly created enterprises by economic activity, the largest part is accounted for trade - 13304 units, industry - 6444 units, construction - 2789 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1835 units.
The smallest number falls on health care and the provision of social services - 297 units, information and communication - 366 units, as well as for transportation and storage - 879 units.
A significant part of the total number of newly created small businesses falls on the city of Tashkent (6304 units), Samarkand (2940 units), Tashkent (2856 units) and Fergana (2851 units) regions.
Their smallest part is recorded in Syrdarya (789 units), Navoi (889 units) regions and in Karakalpakstan (1280 units).
Regarding the number of operating family enterprises by type of economic activity, their main share is accounted for industry - 36.6 percent, or 6819 units, accommodation and food services - 21.9 percent, or 4081 units, trade - 19.4 percent, or 3615 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 10.1 percent, or 1888 units, construction - 1.2 percent, or 217 units, transportation and storage - 1.1 percent, or 196 units, health care and the provision of social services - 1.0 percent, or 188 units, information and communication - 0.9 percent, or 16 8 units and other types - 7.8 percent, or 1,462 units.
