Kazakhstan imports cattle from Austria, Czech Republic to boost production

About 1,000 head of cattle was brought to the North Kazakhstan region this year, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

Kazakh internal policy department states that beef and dairy cattle are purchased under state animal husbandry development programs.

Cows from Austria, Czech Republic and neighboring Russia come to the region.

Recently, 490 heads of Simmental cattle from Austria were brought to Dayndyk LLP of Akkayynsky district.

There were purchased them under the program "Sybaga".

The cost of each cow is about 1 million tenge. During the month, the cattle will be in quarantine.

Cows will be tested for leukemia, brucellosis and a number of other diseases.

Peterfeld Agro LLP, Kyzylzhar District, is planning to bring 512 heads of cattle from the Czech Republic this year. There are 160 heads that have already arrived in the region.

Moreover, 90, 50 and 60 cattle heads were also brought from the Czech Republic.

The Pan and Akbot farms brought 113 heads of Hereford cattle from Russia.

The region has set a goal to increase meat production and export potential.

Furthermore, it worth noting that, the volume of country's agricultural production in January-March 2019 amounted to 439.711.8 billion tenge, which is 3.6 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

The Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan provided that information.

In particular, in the reporting period, the volume of livestock production amounted to 41310.9 billion tenge (increase in production compared to January-March last year by 3.8 percent), crop production - 17, 778.8 billion tenge (0 percent).

In turn, the volume of services in the field of agriculture amounted to 121, 7 million tenge, the volume of products (services) in the hunting sector to 246, 7 million tenge, in forestry to 3. 308,6 billion tenge and in fisheries and aquaculture to 1.945,1 billion tenge.
