Iran sees 38.5% decline in vehicle production

The statistics of Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade shows decline in production by Khodro and Saipa companies, the country's two largest car makers.

“Iran-Khodro Group produced 425,824 vehicles, which means the decline in production by 40.3 percent in the last 12 months,” reports Trend referencing IRNA.

Over the past 12 months, the company has produced 415,448 cars, 8,288 pickup trucks and 216 minivans, mid-buses and buses, which means decline in production by 40.7, 26.3 and 26.5 percent respectively. In March this year, Iran Khodro managed to produce 39,200 vehicles, including 38,556 cars, 536 pickup trucks, five vans and 39 minibuses, mid-buses and buses.

According to the statistics, Saipa automobile group has produced 420,324 vehicles during the last 12 months, which means 37 percent decrease in production compared with the last year figures. The statistics also shows that in March this year, the Saipa group produced 39,373 vehicles including 35,775 cars, 3,407 pickup trucks and 58 trucks.

Last Iranian year (end on March 21, 2019), 955,900 vehicles were produced in the country, which means 37.8 percent decrease as compared to the previous Iranian year.
