Remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia slightly increase

The remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia reached $1.64 million in March 2019, which is slightly more than in March 2018, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Bank on April 16.

The remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia reached $1.63 million in March 2018.

Azerbaijan’s share in remittances to Georgia for the year decreased from 1.23 percent to 1.19 percent.

The amount of remittances from Georgia to Azerbaijan in March 2019 reached $906,000, which is 0.47 percent less than in March 2018 ($910,300).

In general, the amount of remittances from abroad to Georgia reached $138.4 million in March 2019, which is 4.5 percent ($5.9 million) more than in March 2018.

Georgia obtained 93.6 percent of total remittances from 17 biggest donor countries (Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain, Poland, etc.). The share of these 17 countries accounted for 93 percent of total remittances in March 2018.

The biggest amount of remittances to Georgia accounted for Russia ($35.4 million), Italy ($19 million), Greece ($16 million), Israel ($13 million), US ($14.8 million).

As for remittances from Georgia, $18.5 million were transferred in March 2019. Some $21 million were transferred in March 2018.
