Turkey considering prospects of partnership with private business of Turkmenistan

A meeting was held at the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) with Halil Avci, the Turkish chairman of the Turkey-Turkmenistan business council, Trend reports referring to the UIET.

In particular, a presentation of large-scale projects implemented by the UIET and the experience of partnership with foreign business was held.

The Turkish representative noted that the business circles of both countries have all the opportunities for intensifying the relations in various fields, including as part of the work of the business council.

In this context, emphasis was made on the productivity of the organization of business forums and familiarization with the work of large industrial enterprises and agricultural complexes of the two countries in order to exchange experience and promote the export of goods.

The meeting was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mustafa Kapucu and the management of the Turkmen Turkish Joint Stock Commercial Bank.

Turkey is one of the largest trade partners of Turkmenistan: about 600 Turkish companies operating in trade, investment, construction, energy, transport, communications, textile and processing industries are registered in Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan exports the products of textile, energy, chemical, agricultural industries. Metals and products made of metals, household goods, equipment, building materials, electrical goods, products of chemical and light industries, food products, vehicles, and medicines are imported from Turkey.

Ashgabat and Ankara expressed readiness to develop energy cooperation. Turkey declared its readiness to promote the transportation of the Caspian energy resources to Europe through Turkish territory, one of the options being the transportation along the bottom of the Caspian Sea and further across the territory of Azerbaijan.

As of 2018, over 1,015 enterprises subordinate to the UIET operate in the agro-industrial complex.
