Poultry meat production is expected to increase up to 85,000 tons in Azerbaijan in 2019, Aydin Valiyev, Head of the Azerbaijan Poultry Farmers Association, told Trend.
For comparison, 60,000 tons of poultry meat were produced in 2018, he said. In his words, the export of poultry meat this year is not envisaged, since the production is designed primarily to meet domestic demand.
Because almost all components for the production of poultry meat including feed, food additives and veterinary drugs are imported, its export becomes unprofitable, Aydin Valiyev explained. Local demand for the product is about 130,000 tons, he added. The production of eggs this year is expected to remain at the last year’s level, said Aydin Valiyev adding that 1.6 billion eggs were produced in 2018.
The Head of the Association noted that various activities including the work on the expansion of production areas are underway to increase the production of poultry meat and eggs in Azerbaijani districts.
Aydin Valiyev also highly appreciated the state’s support for the development of poultry meat production including investments in this industry. As a result, new jobs were created and the production capacity was increased, he said.
