Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern (Turkmen Highways) has developed a feasibility study of a project to modernize Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan highway 225 kilometers long, Trend reports with reference to "Neytralni Turkmenistan" newspaper.

The project provides for the modernization of the highway to make it in line with the standards of second technical category with four-way traffic. The width of the highway will increase more than twice and reach 22.5 meters, and the width of the carriageway will be 15 meters.

Parking lots, filling stations, technical maintenance stations, catering and trade facilities will be built along the highway. A draft design of a new highway bridge across the Garabogaz bay has also been prepared. Its length will be more than 350 meters, the news report said.

This will allow for optimizing the transportation of products of a urea plant recently built in the region. On the whole, the highway is expected to become continuation of the high-speed multimodal Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway and create additional opportunities to increase domestic and international traffic as well as trade with neighboring countries.
